Motorcycle
We reunite culture and technological tradition, not in vain, but in BMS we are very proud to be the first in develop the first plastic fuel tank for the motorcycle in 1975. Since then, the innovation is and it’s been our constant.
Blow Molding Systems (BMS) has more than 40 years’ experience in plastic blow moulded parts for the motorcycle industry and it’s recognized and specialized in plastic fuel tanks as for polytene (PE) or polyamide (PA).
In Europe, the limit of emissions of gas for the plastic fuel tanks for motorbikes are considered in 20g/m²/d, according to specification 97/24/CE of the European commission. Nevertheless, it is probable, that in a short time, the European commission reduced this limit, getting orientated to the EPA regulation, that for BMS is a very important vantage as we are a specialist in non-automotive fuel tanks with this regulation.

1980-1990 APRILIA, DERBI, MBK, PIAGGIO, RIEJU... HAVE BEEN EQUIPED WITH PLASTIC FUEL TANKS AND OTHER TANKS IN PLASTIC, ALL OF THEM MANUFACTURED BY BMS.

FUEL TANKS

We are specialists in design and production of fuel tanks, in PE and PA.
The plastic tanks developed and produced by BMS in general- are lighter than the steel made ones, and allows to design the tanks in very difficult shapes, appropriate for the spaces left for this tank in the final vehicle, and having the same quality and warranty in security meaning.

We use the nylon resin (PA 6) in our process of moulding for extrusion, done by blow moulding, with a mono-layer, in order to be able to fulfil the vapor emission standards for fuel requested by the EPA regulation. Also, we use a barrier resin with a nylon base, together with polytene of high density. This mixture of nanocomposite creates a laminar structure and a difficult way that reduces permeability in plastics. Al lot them are important aspects that allows us to fulfil the US environmental protection agency (EPA).
The use of this nylon resin (PA 6) furthermore that its’s high permeability (value of 1.4 g/m²/day of emissions) it has the vantage of its high resistivity to impact and good adherence that allows BMS to produce big tanks for the premium brands in the world.
Recently, we have acquired a machine for extrusion-blow moulding with a capacity of 200 litters, with the finality to cover the new demands of the principal customers for the production of motorbikes in Europe for high cylinder range.
