Blow Molding System S.L. (BMS) has officially filed a European patent application (EPO) for its new blow-molding technology, LinerKinetics™, a process designed for the production of large-format polyamide and HDPE liners used in Type IV pressure vessels for hydrogen and other compressed gases.

As described in the patent filing (pages 1–12), the invention protects a multi-stage mold architecture that combines:

  • three independently movable mold units (top, main and bottom),

  • a dual-air injection system (one radial nozzle and one axial),

  • and a sequential blow-molding process that improves parison stability and material distribution.

This system enables the production of long, cylindrical liners between 1,000 mm and 2,200 mm in length, with diameters up to 650 mm, and significantly improves:

  • thickness uniformity,

  • reduction of parison sag,

  • significantly improved pinch-line, reducing wrinkles and defects in the closing

The technology was developed as part of the HIDROGENPA Project, in collaboration with UBE Corporation Europe, and represents a major step forward in the development of advanced components for hydrogen storage (700 bar) and other industrial gases like renewable biomethane or synthetic gases (250-300 bar)

.

“This patent marks the culmination of years of development and positions BMS among the few European companies mastering blow-molding technologies for advanced polyamides and high-pressure gas storage,” says Eduard Torras, CEO of BMS.
